Cyclic compression of sands at constant stress ratio—experimental investigations and constitutive modelling

چکیده
Abstract Several constitutive models for sands are based on an additive split of the effective stress rate into two terms. One term accounts deviatoric ratio $$\varvec{r}$$ r , other mean $${p}$$ p . While sophisticated techniques available to account monotonic and cyclic variations is usually treated by means rather rudimentary mechanisms. In particular, no plasticity sand model seems exist whose functions take changes in a realistic manner. However, frequently occur geotechnical boundary value problems can cause irrecoverable deformation non-cohesive soils. Present significantly under- or overestimate these deformations. This issue tackled paper. First, results from comprehensive series triaxial tests Toyoura Sand presented. The samples were loaded with at constant order study effects exclusively. test show that accumulate significant strains throughout successive loading cycles. furthermore allow investigate pressure level, amplitude, level density strain evolution. Second, new existing Bounding Surface Plasticity proposed They intended improve simulation obtained ratio. extended then carefully calibrated validated using experimental data tests. validation prove have desired effect.

A Constitutive Model for Sands
In this paper, an elastoplastic constitutive model is presented for predicting sandy soil behavior under monotonic and cyclic loadings. The model is based on the CJS3 model that takes into account deviatoric and isotropic mechanisms of plasticity. The flow rule in deviatoric mechanism is non-associated and a kinematic hardening law controls the evolution of the yield surface. In the present s...

متن کاملViscoelastic properties of passive skeletal muscle in compression: stress-relaxation behaviour and constitutive modelling.
The compressive properties of skeletal muscle are important in impact biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering and surgical simulation. However, the mechanical behaviour of muscle tissue in compression remains poorly characterised. In this paper, the time-dependent properties of passive skeletal muscle were investigated using a combined experimental and theoretical approach. Uniaxial ramp and h...
متن کاملConstitutive modelling of arteries
This review article is concerned with the mathematical modelling of the mechanical properties of the soft biological tissues that constitute the walls of arteries. Many important aspects of the mechanical behaviour of arterial tissue can be treated on the basis of elasticity theory, and the focus of the article is therefore on the constitutive modelling of the anisotropic and highly nonlinear e...
متن کاملLaboratory Investigation on the Influence of Cyclic Water Injection Pressure on Sands Hydraulic Conductivity
Hydraulic conductivity variations around the boreholes in uniformly graded sands for cyclic water injection pressure have been evaluated by laboratory tests. Prototype laboratory devices have been designed and constructed for this research. The cell has a capability to model the well, the boundary condition and to measure the hydraulic conductivity. While increasing water injection pressure, hy...
